David Cox's view of Penmaenmawr is sometimes thought to actually be Penmaenbach. The reason for this is probably the large finger of rock to seaward of the road at its high point. This survives at Penmaenbach but there was formerly such a finger at Penmaenmawr also. For the Penmaenbach idea to be correct the view would have to be post-Telford
(early C19th) and this is unlikely.
